Serpentine and onyx statuette, 'Kingfisher'
A solitary bird, the kingfisher flaunts colorful feathers. Csar Gonzles sculpts the bird in sodalite and onyx. White onyx forms the breast and tail, while black onyx becomes the long, stout beak. Sodalite, chrysocolla and jasper complete the sculpture. Known in Peru as a martin pescador (fishing martin), the bird perches on onyx with bronze feet.
